FAQ – Back2Tap Program

Is my tap water really safe to drink? And even if it is, I don’t like the taste – what should I do?

We’re going to connect you to the experts for an answer to this question. In a nutshell, the U.S. has invested a tremendous amount of resources on a highly-efficient municipal water delivery system that is more highly regulated (by the EPA) than bottled water which is regulated by the FDA (and about 40% of bottled water is actually filtered tap water!). You can find answers to your tap water questions from the EPA at www.epa.gov/ogwdw/faq/faq.html. Also, the Natural Resources Defense Council has conducted extensive tests on municipal water supplies as well as on bottled water, and you can find more information at www.nrdc.org/water including information on how to select a water filter for your home. Bottom line, better to filter your tap water at the point of use and drink from a reusable bottle than to drink water from a disposable plastic bottle!

How do I run a Back2Tap fundraiser?

Take a look at our Getting Started Guide found under our Schools & Groups tab to learn more about running a custom bottle fundraiser.  You can also request Fundraising Guide on our Schools and Groups home page: http://www.back2tap.com/school-groups/.

Do you have any educational materials I can use?

Yes! Check out our website for many on-line educational materials, especially in the Schools & Groups and Resources tabs.

Will you come and speak at my school?

Given the hundreds of schools across the country that are looking into our Back2Tap program, we are not able to visit every school that asks. However, we have set up the program with many on-line tools for you to use and we would be happy to assist you in any way we can. Contact us at customerservice@back2tap.com.
